- Louisville shut out Columbus, 4-0. Tony Cingrani gave up his first hits of the year, but he threw 6 1/3 more pristine innings, striking out 7 and walking 1. He's got a 21:2 K/BB ratio through 12.1 scoreless innings so far. Haters gunna hate. Henry Rodriguez's hit tool went 3-4 with 2 RBI, and Mike Hessmann mayonnaise'd his 5th focaccia in 6 games to plate the other two Bats runs. Other things of note: Cool Papa Snax was caught stealing for the first time, CorkythereisnoCorkybutCorky hit a double, and Tony Cingrani was some more tits. Up next: Armando Galarraga (1-0, 1.80) will attempt to throw a perfect game against Columbus at 6:35.
- Pensacola had the day off for the fourth annual Cpt. Winston "The Hairy Haddock" Carlisle, Jr. Memorial Fish Fry. It went swimmingly... Up next: It's actually today that Chad Rogers takes on Mobile, not yesterday. That game is at 8:05 eastern.
-
Bakersfield was blanked for the second night in a row, losing to Visalia 3-0, and are now a sub-Houston Astronion 0-6 on the year. Tanner Robles actually pitched alright, considering he spotted the Rawhide 3 runs before recording an out. He proceeded to retire 13 straight, and ended up surrendering just five hits and two walks, striking out seven in 5.1 innings. Obviously, the offense didn't do much. "Dur" Juan Duran continued to shake off an early season slump, notching his second straight 2-3 evening. Dominic D'Anna, Yorman Rodriguez, and Juan "Who?" Silverio each singled to account for the Blaze's other three hits. Up next: Carlos Contreras (0-0, 2.25) vs. Visalia at 7pm Weezy time.
- Dayton lost a nail-biter, falling to South Bend 1-0. Robert Stephenson was the hard-luck loser, but Big Bob Steve pitched well, striking out 9 in 5 innings with just one walk and 5 hits. Seth Mejias-Brean and Zach Vincej had the only two Dragon hits. I wish SMB would only get hits on days when -ManBearPig does the Farmers Only recaps, because I swear I still have to look up how to spell his name every damn time. Up next: "Call me Raghib" Ismael Guillon (0-1, 5.40) takes on South Bend at 7:05.
