SBN Winter Meetings Sim: Reds find BP's replacement

Otto Greule Jr

Guys, Nick Franklin is our new second baseman. You might know him as the 22-year-old who's hit at every minor league level, and I assure you, he is that. He's also cost-controlled, and won't get expensive for a few years.

Unfortunately, we had to make the hardest decision of this sim so far and give up Tony Cingrani to get him. We're not thrilled about it, either. Cingrani is going to be good pitcher in this league for a long time, but if there's anything that the Reds still have depth at, it's starting pitcher.

Fortunately, the Reds have Cingrani's replacement in their big league bullpen already in Aroldis Chapman. It's been a move that's rumored for years, but we'll actually make it.

Also in the deal is Ryan Ludwick, and more importantly, his $7.5M contract. He's surplus right now, with DeJesus, Granderson, Bruce, Hamilton, and (possibly) Heisey manning the outfield in 2014.

What do you think? If the real Reds trade BP, what would you give up for a valid replacement?
