  • Louisville had the day off today. Man, I just looked at their record for the first time in a while and it isn't pretty. Entering play today, they sit 35 games below .500. Woof. Hopefully the 2013 season is a better one for the Bats, because this year has been a big bowl of wrong. Up Next: Todd Redmond squares off against the Columbus Clippers at 7:05 pm ET.
  • Pensacola beat the Mississippi Braves 3-2 in extra innings. Stealin' Billy put on quite a show tonight, swiping four (4!!!) bags on a 5-2 night, bringing his Southern League total to 50, and 154 for the year. It's all but certain that Billy will win the stolen base crown in both the Cali League and the Southern League, and that's pretty dang cool if you ask me. Mark Serrano started the game for the 'Hoos and went 5.2 innings, giving up 2 runs on 4 hits with 5 Ks and 2 BBs. Up Next: Today's game has been cancelled in anticipation of Hurricane Isaac. The Wahoos take on the Smokies Thursday at 7 pm ET.
  • Bakersfield came from behind to beat the Modesto Nuts 7-6. Devin Lohman had a nice day at the plate, going 2-3 with a double, a walk and 2 RBIs. Steve Selsky went 2-4 and drove in the tying run in the top of the 9th. Danny Renken got the start, and got knocked around early and often, giving up 6 runs on 7 hits in 3.2 innings. Fortunately, the bullpen. Up Next: The Rawhide come to town to face Stalin Gerson at 10:15 pm ET.
  • Dayton lost 5-3 to the Whitecaps, despite two very esteemed and devilishly handsome prospect gurus being in attendance for the game. BK and I made our way to Dayton to check out Bob Steve pitch, and he had a decent night, allowing 3 runs (2 earned) on 4 hits with 4 Ks and 2 walks. Stephenson's breaking ball (which you can see here toward the end of this video) looked pretty good and it was very effective as an out-pitch. It seemed to me that most of the hits came off of his fastball, which topped out at 98 and sat mostly around 94 (You can see the fastball here, as well as Bob's pickoff move). OurMan looked good, going 2-4 with a ground rule double (that he tried to stretch into an inside the park home run) an RBI and 0 (!) Ks. Up Next: Joseph Daniel Votto makes his first rehab start against West Michigan tonight at 7 pm ET. Damn, it felt good to write that. Welcome back, Joey.
  • Billings was off. They take on Helena at 9:05 pm ET. Starters TBD.
  • AZL also had the day off and spent it at the big league game.
