Speaking of Volstad, the right-hander himself seems to be mired in a prohibition on wins. The Cub starter has gone 23 starts without winning a game. Of course, losing streaks are nothing new to the Cubs; the team who last won a World Series in a year when only men could vote. It's no small wonder that when Prohibition was enacted, the center of organized crime and illegal liquor sales sprung up in the Windy City. If you're a Cubs fans, YOU GONA DRANK.
The Reds will counter this afternoon with the white hot Mat Latos. Latos has garnered a 1.83 ERA in his last ten starts and is starting to look like the stud kid we picked up in return for a number of possible-stud kids. Meanwhile, the Reds offense will be led by a Studwick of a different color, left fielder and now-rumored MVP vote-garnering candidate Ryan Ludwick. Ludwick almost single-handedly brought the Reds back in game two on Saturday (unfortunately, the AAA pitching) and will look to help in finishing off the job today.
So, welcome to the game thread. Be glad that you can vote, regardless of gender. Be glad you can legally enjoy an alcoholic beverage, if you're of the right age. And be glad you don't have to get news of your baseball team from petty people. Why is that?
Because you're a fan of the Reds; they're my favorite team!
