Those who say you can get too much of a good thing must not be baseball fans. This afternoon, the Reds will go for their tenth consecutive win and third consecutive series sweep when they square off against the Colorado Rockies in Denver. Let's revisit those stats again, but just with different context: the Reds are prepared to win their tenth consecutive game, without Joey Votto, with half of those wins occurring on the road. Granted, the naysayers will say that these wins occurred against less-than-good teams and do not mean much because the Pirates have almost practically matched the Reds win for win in the past week. You know what I say to that? People probably find you to be annoying!

What people don't find annoying are pitchers going for their ninth win like Mat Latos is attempting to do today. People are also completely cool when the opposing pitcher is 1-7 with a very Eric Milton-y ERA 8.01. Please keep up the good work, Jonathan Sanchez! The Reds have some sweeping to do, Sunday getaway lineup notwithstanding.

Winning today will place the Reds within two wins of their franchise record for consecutive victories and will account for their longest winning streak since 1999. A little known fact about the 1999 winning streak is that Jack McKeon slept through 4 of those wins. Perhaps when the Red Legs win today, the Reds Hall of Fame will take notice that many of Dusty's wins during this streak were the product of his free-form jazz lineup construction. Hopefully, the Reds will take another in a series of Giant Steps and leave the Rockies in a Kind of Blue.

Go Reds! They're my favorite team!
