Farmers Only: Time to Put Jesse Winker on Your Radar

  • Louisville lost a wangerfest to the Columbus Clippers, falling 13-12 in 9 innings. Neftali Soto, obviously angry about not getting called up to take over the roster spot vacated by the injured Votto, took out his frustrations against the Clips; going 2-4 with 5 RBIs, a double and a slammed granny. Hank Rod also had a hell of a day at the plate, banging a solo donger and 3 base hits. He got the start at SS and made a throwing error. As great as the offense was, the pitching was rather unfortunate. Chad Reineke got tagged with the loss (4 ER, 4.1 IP) , and every Bats pitcher gave up at least one earned run. Up Next: Pedro Villarreal (3-6, 3.73 ERA) starts against the Paw Sawx at 7:05pm ET.
  • Pensacola beat the Mobile BayBears 8-6. The Hellflower was in full bloom, going 3-5 with a django and 4 RBIs. Billy Quix made it on base three times (2-4, 1 BB), yet was caught stealing in his only attempt. Kyle Lotzkar struggled through 4.1 innings, allowing 4 runs on 2 hits and 6 BBs. He did manage to strike out 6 and knock an RBI base hit, so he's got that going for him, which is nice. Up Next: Lil' Cueto (7-4, 3.05 ERA) toes the rubber for the Blue Wahoos at 8:05 pm ET.
  • Bakersfield lost 5-2 to the the High Desert Mavericks. The Blaze struggled mightily at the plate, scraping together just 3 hits. Devin the Dude Lohman honked a solo wanger and Vicious Danny smacked a three-bagger. That's about all that is worth mentioning from this game. Up Next: The Blaze head to Visalia to battle the Rawhide at 10 pm ET.
  • Dayton was felled by the Clifton LumberKings in a 10-6 affair. Sean Buckley went 3-4 with one of the Dragons' two extra-base hits. Junior Arias managed 2 RBIs on an 0-4, 2 K night. Yorman had a base hit, and an RBI, but more importantly, no Ks! Jake John got jingleheimered, giving up 7 runs (6 earned) on 8 hits in 5 innings. Up Next: James Allen (6-3, 4.04 ERA) takes on the LumberKings at 7pm ET.
  • Billings lost to the Orem Owlz 9-8 in 11 innings. This year's comp round pick, Jesse Winker has been tearing it up since signing with the Reds and reporting to Billings. The 18 year old is sporting a solid line of .352/.495/.439 in his first 25 games. He went 2-6 with a triple last night. Drew Cisco fell victim to the long ball, giving up 6 runs (4 earned) in 3 innings on 5 hits. Up Next: Billingz facez off against the Owlz at 9:05pm ET. Starterz have not been announced.
  • The AZL Reds lost to the AZL Dodgers 5-4. Jonathan Reynoso had a multi-homer game hitting two rally killers in 4 ABs. Pedro Diaz and Luke "Get a Brain" Moran combined for 6.1 innings of 11 K, 3-run ball. Unfortunately, Abel de los Santos. He blew the save allowing 2 runs on 3 BBs and a hit. Up Next: The Reds face the AZ Friars at 10 pm ET.
