Sorry about the lateness, boys and girls. Some technical difficulties at Farmers Only headquarters delayed this post.
- Louisville lost the fourth game of their series to the Norfolk Tides, 4-1. Chad Reineke got the start and had a respectable outing, throwing 6 innings of 2- run ball, with 6 k's and 4 BB's. But with this club, you need to throw shutouts to get wins, because run support is nearly nonexistent.. The lone XBH of the game belonged to Kris Negron, who hit a hustle double. Suck It Dioner went 3-3 and drove home the lone run. The Bats are now 13 games below .500, and not looking like they are going to improve any time soon. But, there is still good news for Bats fans; Garfield the freaking cat will be at the game on Sunday! No word yet on whether John Arbuckle will be there as well. Up Next: Brett Tomko (0-3, 3.41 ERA) takes the mound against the Lehigh Valley Iron Pigs at 6:35pm.
- Pensacola squeaked one out against the Mississippi Braves, winning 4-3 in 10 innings. Didi Gregorius had a nice day at the office, going 2-5 with an RBI, and a rare XBH that bumped his slugging % all the way up to .317. He also scored the game winning run in the 10th after being driven in by a bases loaded walk. I don't want to muck it up and jinx it, but Donnie Joseph is looking like the dominant reliever he was in 2010. His numbers are legit so far this season; 12.5 K/9, 4.5 K/BB, .133 BAA and only 1 ER over 18 innings pitched. After last years debacle, it is great to see DoJo slicing up eyeballs once again. Hopefully he keeps it up and earns himself a promotion to Louisville, so there is someone worth following on the Bats. Up Next: Bubba Watson throws out the first pitch, as the Wahoos return home to start a 5-game tilt against the Birmingham Barons tonight at 7pm. Starters have yet to be determined.
- Bakersfield 86'd the 66ers, winning 4-0. Former 28th round pick and shark attack victim, Chad Rogers threw 8 full innings of 4-hit, shutout ball last night. Just another ho-hum day for Billy the Quick last night banged a triple and swiped his 33rd stolen base (yawn). The Jovial German had a 2-4 night with a double, (his 11th of the year) and an RBI. Er ist stark. Andrew Means did his best Yorman impersonation, going 0-4 with 3 Ks. Up Next: The Blaze continue their series against the Inland Emprie 66ers tonight at 10:05pm. No word yet on the Blaze starter.
- Dayton once again lost a game in which they failed to plate more than one run, falling 2-1 to the Lake County Captains. Much like yesterday, and so many days before that, no one on the team had more than one hit. The Dragons are absolutely awful at the plate this year. They are either last or second to last (thanks Clinton Lumber Kings!) in every offensive category. Fortunately, the pitching. Tanner Robles had a quality start, allowing only 2 runs over 6 innings. Mike Dennhardt made his debut for the Dragons, pitching 1 scoreless inning. Dennhardt was drafted in the 32nd round last year out of Boston College, despite being on the mend with Tommy John sugery. Up Next: The Dragons wrap up their series against the Captains tonight at 6:30pm. Stalin Gerson (1-3, 5.40 ERA) will toe the rubber for Dayton.
