Last night, Peter Gammons tweeted that Dusty Baker will make a final decision on the fate of Aroldis Chapman after today's game. For the moment, let's ignore Gammons' suggestion that Dusty, not Walt, will decide how to proceed with Chapman's development. Regardless of who makes that decision, it appears as though today's start will have major implications on the future of Aroldis Chapman. The young Cuban has been terrific this spring, posting an ERA of 1.50 with 12 Ks over 12 innings. One more strong performance could cement his spot in the Reds rotation.
According to John Fay, Mike Leake and Bill Bray are also scheduled to pitch against the Brewers today. Homer Bailey, also vying for the final spot in the rotation, will pitch a minor league game.
Lineups after the jump.
Chapman will be tested, as the Brewers lineup features several regulars. Meanwhile, Dusty looks like he is giving several "bubble" players one last chance to make the roster.
