Unfortunately, the pitching. When we heard this was the match up for the game, we decided to hurry up and make it to Peoria to make sure we could get some outfield seats. After hitting up the team practice in Goodyear, your intrepid Red Reporters will be taking in the game in Peoria against former Reds Edinson Volquez and Yonder Alsonso. Yasmani Grandal is not in the starting lineup tonight after going 3-3 with a monster home run and 5 RBIs last night. Ryan Madson was scheduled to pitch today, but has apparently suffered another setback and has no timetable for a return as of yet. Sean Marshall and Carlos Fisher are scheduled to follow Arroyo.
Mat Latos looked good last night after giving up a solo home run in the 1st inning, fanning 3 over 5 IP with no walks. He also stroked a double that looked like it was gone off the bat, but just short-hopped the wall. Masset, Ondrusek and LeCure all looked solid, as well. Unsurprisingly, the same cannot be said for Ron Mahay.

Logan Ondrusek awkwardly says hello.
When we met up with the inimitable and awesome Dallas Latos behind home plate, she was with Steve Adler, a San Diego sports radio host and founder of Padres site The Friarhood, along with the dubiously named Fantasy Daddy, which shockingly isn't a porn site. He's pretty close to the Latos family from their time in San Diego, and was paying a visit to Goodyear to see Mat pitch (5 IP, 4 H, 1 ER, 0 BB, 3 K, swoon), sporting a swell "Team Latos" shirsey (available here, if you're interested). One of the first things we saw upon entering the park was a Skyline cart, so we got Steve to try a coney (though it was decidedly second-rate compared to ones you can get in the Queen City). Here is his reaction.
