Jim Riggleman is reported to be interested in the Toronto Blue Jay's managerial opening, according to Ken Rosenthal. He says Riggleman has always wanted to manage Jose Reyes (who doesn't?), but the BJays have yet to talk to him about it.
Riggleman managed the Pensacola Blue Wahoos, the Reds' double-A affiliate, in their inaugural season this year. He was previously the manager of the Washington Nationals before they declined to give him a contract extension when he wanted one and so he was all "later dudes".
I'm kind of surprised that Riggleman is even being considered for such a gig now. After the way he left the Nats high and dry, I figured it would be a while before he would get another legitimate opportunity. I mean, he had to take a double-A gig just to have a job this year. But hey, I suppose he's a talented manager, so the Blue Jays may not care about his impetuous past.
