This is the last game against an AL team that the Reds have to play. Right? There isn't some AL team lurking behind a corner in early in August, is there? They're not going to send the Brewers back to the AL in the middle of the season are they? Because the Reds are pretty good at beating the NL Brewers. At least a handful of these inter-league losses were winnable games. But that's cold comfort.
Aside for pitching issues and periodic team-wide breakdowns, the Reds are also choking a lot. It's a problem that's been confined to the highest-leverage situations, but yesterday's 12 LOB, 1-for-13 with RISP performance was a systematic avoidance of run-scoring. Kind of impressive.
Mike Leake, do that thing. Show those Lake Eerie Lunkheads who made the REAL Faust-ian bargain.
