Farmers Only: A suddenly crowded pitching staff

Homer Bailey and Aroldis Chapman both had relatively successful rehab outings last night.  Sam LeCure seems ready to return.  Dontrelle Willis is throwing rocks.  A month ago this team was desperate for an arm that would stay attached for a few innings, and now Walt and Dusty have some major decisions to make about the Reds pitching.  We all know what Justisarrian0070000000 would do.  What about you?

  • Louisville lost 6-3Zack Cozart keeps showing how useless AAA numbers are.  He was 2-5 with double.  Devin Mesoraco was 1-3 with a double and a walk, and Juan Francisco hit 2 homers.  Homer Bailey threw 6 rehab innings, giving up 3 runs.  Rick Sweet said he looked good and ready to return to the big leagues. Aroldis Chapman threw a perfect inning with 1 strikeout.  He threw 13 pitches, 7 for strikes.  Up Next: Daryl Thompson gets the always fun 11:45 am start.
  • Carolina, Bakersfield, and Dayton are all on their all star breaks.
  • Billings won 17-1.  Stalin Gerson, recently demoted from Dayton, threw 6 shutout innings with 5 strikeouts.  Lots and lots of players had lots and lots of hits in this one.  Personal favorite Kyle Waldrop was 2-5 with a triple and a walk. Up Next: They have a 10:05 start.
  • AZL Reds won 11-7.  Again, lots of hitting.  I encourage you to check out the boxscore.  Lucas O'Rear had it rough, giving up 4 runs in just 3.2 IP.
