Ahhhh, afternoon baseball. The afternoon is the ideal time to catch a ballgame, isn't it? The game is over before supper time, so afterwards you can take your best gal out for a steak and still have time to catch a picture show. 'Tis a capital idea!
The Reds are looking for their 4th straight victory today, which is a refreshing change from the faux-Fibonacci sequence they were stuck in the past few weeks. Bronson Arroyo has been the one calming force in the rotation so far, as he's pitched at least six innings in all but one of his starts. His ERA is a solid-if-not-inspiring 4.17, which is the best on the starting staff outside the one start Homer Bailey has made. He has a history of great success at Wrigley Field, with a 3.09 lifetime ERA in the Friendly Confines in 10 starts.
Casey Coleman, conversely, is a fresh-faced young buck who was thrust into the Cubs' rotation because of injuries. He hasn't gone six innings yet this year and has had a penchant for wildness, as he's walked 13 batters in 18 1/3 innings. So he's exactly the kind of pitcher the Reds need to be patient with in order to get to the soft underbelly of the Cubs' bullpen.
The game is on FOX Saturday baseball today, so let's do something good for the national audience. Go Reds! Let's make it four in a row!
