Another teasing two-game series. Time to recalibrate the vacuum tubes on the MLB Accu-schedu-matic?
The Reds owe the Universe one after last night's game and the Pirates are just the team to cash in. But with the way the pitchers are pitching and the bats are battering, this win streak looks pretty karma-proof. Over those last 5 victories, the offense has been averaging 7.2 runs per game. While that production is unsustainable, improved starting pitching is making the offense's off-nights more winnable. I've unfairly maligned Charlie Morton in the past, but he's pitching very well. His 4.7:4.7 SO:BB ratio is certainly a red flag, but so are the peripheral stats that have said for years that Bronson Arroyo isn't as good as he is. Morton shut down the Reds in a complete game, 1 ER show of force on April,15 and he's capable of doing it again.
Don't upset the fates. Go Reds!
