- Louisville lost 6-1. Chad Reineke was the tough luck loser, going 6 IP and giving up 3 runs, only one of which was earned. Even really good offensive teams have off days, and this was one of those for the Bats. The team only managed 6 hits and no walks. The only extra base hit was a double by Michael Griffin and Juan Francisco was the only player with more than 1 hit. Up Next: Tom Cochran takes the hill at 7:05.
Carolina also lost 6-1. This looks like it was a weird and kinda deflating game. The Mudcats were 1-hit through 8 innings, but entered the bottom of the 8th tied 1-1 until the Mobile BayBears exploded for 5 runs off of Lee Tabor. Then the team managed 2 more hits in the 9th, but that was it. Cody Puckett must hate being in Carolina right now. He's pretty much the only prospect on the team hitting worth anything (I refuse to count Mike Costanzo). Last night he was 1-3 with a walk. Up Next: James Avery tries to right the ship at 8:05.
Bakersfield won 7-5. "Ah, so they must have gotten some hits!" you say. Well, no. They somehow managed to score 7 runs on only 5 hits. The mystery is solved by Steve Hunt (STEVE HUNT!) who hit a 2-run homer and Alex Buchholz, who hit a 3 run homer. Clutchiness! Coincidentally, this damage was all done off of top Rockies prospect Tyler Matzek, who has been sucking hard this year. Up Next: JC Sulbaran starts at 10:30.
- Dayton was off. Up Next: Daniel Corcino tries to keep his nice season going, starting at 7:00.
