On paper, these last two games have looked like pretty favorable for the Reds, yet have resulted in two frustrating home losses amidst a 4-8 stretch. Tonight, they face a better pitcher than a Correia or Gallaraga (perfect game nothwithstanding) in Ian Kennedy - who, April 8th, held the Reds to 1 run through 8 innings, striking out 9 - with weather conditions portending another home-run frenzy. But April is an unpredictable month.
Bronson has played the stopper before. Tonight he'll be called on to stop the bleeding to avoid the first instance of a non-winning record in 2011 and potentially the first time the Reds have sunk lower than 1st place. I'd like to see Bronson try to coax some grounders and the Reds make Kennedy work, even if they can't draw first blood.
The motif of this preview, for some reason, was blood.
