You gotta hand it to Charlie Morton. And then totally forget about him, because James McDonald is not Charlie Morton. McDonald came to the Pirates last year in a deal for Octavio Dotel in one of those under-the-radar kind of moves that makes me think the Pirates might finally know what they are doing. McDonald is no great shakes, as his seven earned runs allowed in 11.3 innings illustrates, but he's probably going to be a decent back-of-the-rotation pitcher some day. At least, he has the potential for that. That ain't bad in exchange for an old expensive reliever.
Mike Leake (Mike Leake!) takes the hill for the ol' Redlegs, attempting to avenge the loss he took last time out against the Diamondbacks. Brandon Phillips is sitting out again, with Miguel Cairo slotted in at 2B and the 2-hole. Scott Rolen is also sitting, presumably because it's a day game after a night game, so Dusty is trotting out yet another getaway day lineup. Let's hope McDonald serves up a happier meal than the one Morton did last night.
Go Reds! They are my favorite team!
