Farmers Only: No hits, and lots of hits

  • Louisville was rained out. They'll play a doubleheader tonight starting at 6:00, with Tom Cochran taking the hill in the opener.
  • Carolina got their first win of the season, winning 10-4. Mike Costanzo keeps making his case to supplant Joey Votto as the Reds first baseman. Costanzo went 2-4 with 2 HR, including a grand slam, and raised his OPS on the young season to 1.580. That's way better than Joey Votto. Jose Castro was 3-4 and Jake Kahaulelio was 2-4. Jordan Hotckiss got the win, lasting 5 decent innings. Donnie Joseph got in a scoreless 9th, striking out 2 (although he did allow 2 hits). Up Next: Carolina is off Tuesday.
  • Bakersfield got stomped 12-2. Not much to talk about in this one, other than Yasmani Grandal was back in the lineup after taking a foul ball off his foot over the weekend. He doubled and scored one of the 2 runs. Also, Modesto, the team they lost to, is nicknamed the Nuts. Up Next: Josh Ravin starts at 10:05
  • Dayton was no-hit by 3 different Lake County pitchers and lost 3-1. That's right, they were no hit but still scored a run. A Juan Duran walk and SB sandwiched between 2 wild pitches accounted for the lone run. On the pitching side, Daniel Renken gave up 3 runs in 5 IP, but he did strike out 8. Up Next: Justin Smith takes the hill at 7:00
