RR Community Prospect Rankings: Red Reporter loves it some mediocre middle infielders!

Kris Negron runs away with prospect #16. I'll go on record as saying this is way too high for him. I don't see Negron Modelo as being any more than a decent utility infielder, but whatevs. It's not like there are a bunch of guys left with mid-rotation or solid every day regular potential..... Of course, now that I've put this on record, that probably guarantees he'll be Cincinnati's starting short stop by June.

A couple of new guys get added to the list today. Baseball America called David Vidal the best pure hitter the Reds drafted in 2010, and that includes Yasmani Grandal. Last year in JUCO, pitchers would intentionally walk him with the bases empty. So he can evidently hit, but unfortunately there's nowhere for him to play on the field. He's short, he's not fast, and his arm isn't particularly strong. If he could stick at 3B he could be a very good prospect. If he needs to be a 1B, less so. If he has to be a DH, he needs to be traded. I debated who else to add, so I decided to go with Sam LeCure, mainly because there seems to be a taste for high floor/very low ceiling guys right now. Not much needs to be said about Yosemite Sam except yes, he still qualifies as a 'prospect' and no, he probably won't sniff the Reds rotation this year.

It can be argued that other guys should go on the list before these two, so if you feel strongly about someone, speak up!

*Ed. note: If you don't know the player's name, just their alma mater, your request will be disregarded.
