We currently find ourselves in a Badroyo cycle. Over the last 6 starts, Bronson Arroyo is just 2-4 with a 5.15 ERA. Badroyo cycles typically last 6-10 starts, though the length can be shortened with antibiotics. The Nasty Hook may not be sailing tonight, but I don't expect him to be suffering still by the time the playoffs roll around.
Barry Enright has been solid in 13 starts so far with the Diamondbacks. He's not a high-strikeout pitcher, so he gets by with good control. Don't expect the Reds to be sitting back and taking pitches. Since he's right-handed, it's sure be nice to see a couple of lefties added to the lineup (would Yonder Alonso or Juan Francisco in left field really be that much of a defensive downgrade?).
As I said earlier today, Reds just need to win 2 games a series and the Cardinals would have to go 19-2 to catch them. If the Cardinals lose 5 of their last 21 games, the Reds only have to win 10. They can't coast into the playoffs, but their not far off.
Go Reds!
