Those are all of Homer Bailey's career starts against the Pittsburgh Pirates. Yep, Bailey has 15 career wins, and 5 of them are against the Pirates. Not to jinx it, but something tells me the slump will be busted tonight.
Then again, Paul Maholm hasn't exactly sucked against the Reds. In 18 career starts versus Cincinnati, Maholm is 6-4 with a 3.81 ERA, a considerable improvement over his 45-58 with a 4.52 ERA overall. He's not lights out, but he has been murder on lefties. Thankfully, the Reds don't have many of those anymore (word is Jay Bruce should be back some time this weekend). Right-handers like the taste of what Maholm delivers (.867 OPS vs. RHB this year, .825 over his whole career).
It's German Heritage night at the ballpark tonight. The one night of the year when it's okay to wear your Nazi regalia to the ballpark (this may or may not be true). Go Reds!
