Farmers Only: There are some good closers in the high minors

  • Louisville lost to Indianapolis 6-2.  Matt Klinker struggled in his most recent AAA start, giving up 5 runs in 6 innings.  Aroldis Chapman didn't pitch, and would be fresh for a weekend series.  Not sayin', just sayin'.  Todd Frazier and Juan Francisco both homered. Up Next: Starter hasn't been announced, but the team plays at 7:00.
  • Carolina won 8-5.  Donnie Joseph struck out 2 in a scoreless 9th to earn his first AA save.  Five different Mudcats had multiple hits, and they were led by Chris Denove, who went 4-4 with a double and homer. Up Next: The team is off Thursday.
  • Lynchburg fell 5-0.  Chase Ware threw three shutout innings in relief, striking out 3.  Cody Puckett was 2-4 with a double.  Up Next: Curtis Partch starts at 7:05.
  • Dayton lost 7-4.  DiDi Gregorius and Mark Fleury each had 2 hits, and Dominic D'Anna reached safely 3 times, twice via walk.  Up Next: Not sure who is starting, but they will play at 6:30.
  • Billings won 6-2.  Tanner Robles only lasted 4 innings and gave up 2 runs, but neither were earned.  Dayne Read led the way with 2 hits, including his second homer. Up Next: Jonathan Correa will start at 9:05.
  • AZL Reds won 10-0. . Ismael Guillon was just silly good, throwing 6 shutout innings and striking out 11.  That's right, 11 Ks in 6 innings.  Oh, and just 2 walks and 1 hit.  Crazy.  Lots and lots of multi-hit games in this one.  Go check it out.  Up Next: Someone will start at 9:00.
