After much deliberation, the Reds have delayed my game thread enough and announced that Matt Maloney will be starting and Aaron Harang will go to the DL with back spasms. So, a week after not having had a lefty start all season, the Reds will have lefties start on back-to-back nights. We all know Maloney's story (because justin007000 won't stop telling us). He's had success in the minors and pitched decently last season in the big leagues, but was prone to giving up the long ball in his 7 starts. He's pitched well again this year in Louisville and strictly from a numbers perspective he looks like he can the bigs. But the hitters aren't batting against minor league numbers, and hopefully they won't be hitting off a minor league pitcher tonight either.
We're going to do something special this evening in order to do our part to get out the vote for Joey Votto. At the start of the 2nd, 4th, and 6th innings, we will close the comments on all active game threads. At that point, it will be your job to start voting for Joey Votto as many times as you can before the last out of that inning is made. Keep count on how many you can get during an inning's time and bring that count back here after the inning is over to compare. The person with the most votes during our three designated innings will win the praise and adulation of Reds fans everywhere. Plus, Joey Votto will totally be your Facebook friend, if he ever decides to sign up for an account.
By the way, anyone caught commenting in a thread on the site during one of our designated innings will be mocked and forced to become MySpace friends with Miley Cyrus.
Have fun! Vote Votto! Go Reds!
