Farmers Only: The Bats can play small ball too!

New, comments

  • Louisville showed it could win any number of ways,  beating Charlotte 2-0.  Matt Maloney showed how it's done, lasting 7 shutout innings, allowing only 2 hits and striking out 5, lowering his ERA on the year to 2.91 (Trade bait?)  The Bats only mustered 5 hits, but also stole 3 bases and did just enough to win. (Smawl Bawl!!) Up Next: Micah Owings takes the hill at 7:05
  • Carolina won a thriller 3-2.  Matt Fairel had a great start, throwing 6 innings of 1 run ball, giving up 5 hits and 2 walks while striking out 6.  Jesus Delgado did his best to show why wins are a meaningless stat, giving up the go-ahead run in the top of the 9th, but 'earning' the win when the Mudcats came back with 2 in the bottom of the inning.  Blog favorite Dave Sappelt was 3-4 with his 8th homer, and Sean Henry was 2-4 with 2 doubles.  Up Next: Matt Klinker is back in Carolina, and he'll start at 7:15.
  • Lynchburg lost 9-8.  Cody Puckett was 3-5 with a double and his 11th homer, Chris Richburg was 2-4 with a homer, and Neftali Soto hit his 16th homer on the season.  Up Next: Jordan Hotchkiss starts at 7:00.
  • Dayton lost 6-3.  Henry Rodriguez was 2-4 with his 11th homer.  He also stole 2 bases, giving him 22 on the season.  Up Next: Blair Carson will start at 7:05.
  • Billings won 6-3.  Daniel Tuttle went 5, allowing 2 runs and striking out 4.  Billy Hamilton was 3-5 with a stolen base, and Juan Duran was 3-5 with his 3rd homer.  Duran is finally coming out of his season and a half long slump.  His average is up to .228 on the year.  Up Next: Daniel Corcino starts at 9:05
  • AZL Reds were postponed. Up Next: Someone will start at 9:05
