Farmers Only: Is it time to send Dave Sappelt to Louisville?

  • Louisville was postponed.  Up Next: Ben Jukich starts at 7:05
  • Carolina lost 11-4.  Tom Cochran and Brad Boxberger both struggled, but Lee Tabor threw 3.2 shutout innings from the pen.  The only Mudcat with multiple hits was Devin Mesoraco, who went 2-4 with a walk.  Dave Sappelt went 1-3 with a double and a walk.  In 75 games in AA he's hitting .351/.402/.529 while playing excellent center field defense.  With the recent departure of Gary Matthews Jr (hooray!) there's another hole in the Louisville outfield.  Sappelt is 23 and hasn't showed signs of slowing in Carolina.  It might be time to challenge him.  Up Next: Carolina is off Tuesday
  • Lynchburg won 7-4.  Donnie Joseph got back on track, striking out the side in the 9th for his 11th save in Lynchburg.  Chris Richburg, Denis Phipps, and Neftali Soto all homered, and Cody Puckett was 2-4 with a double and a walk.  Up Next: Chase Ware starts at 7:05
  • Dayton was shut out 5-0.  Homer Bailey had his first rehab start since leaving the game in Cleveland, and he threw 4 innings, giving up 3 runs on 4 hits and a walk while striking out 5.  All 3 runs came in the 4th inning.  The Dragons were limited to 3 measly hits on offense.  Up Next: Dayton is off Tuesday
  • Billings lost 7-6.  Drew Hayes and Daniel Wolford combined for 3.2 shutout innings from the pen.  Oliver Santos was 2-4 with a double and Jefry Sierra and Yorman Rodriguez were both 2-4.  Up Next: Tanner Robles starts at 9:05.
  • AZL Reds lost 5-3.  Ismael Guillon allowed 4 runs in 4.2 innings, but he did strike out 10.  Kyle Lotzkar threw a scoreless inning of relief.  Kurtis Muller was 4-4 and David Vidal was 2-4 with a walk.  Up Next: Someone starts at 9:00
