With another afternoon game today, I didn't want to spend a lot of time on a post, so I threw together this graph. It is similar to one that you'll find in Wire-to-Wire Reds when you finally get around to buying the book. The point of the graph is to show how team's are performing when you compare their offensive success against their defensive success. A team in the upper-right quadrant has both an above-average offense and defense. A team in the lower left quadrant has problems. The farther right you are, the better you are offensively. The farther up you are the better you are at preventing runs.
Who would have thunk at the start of the season that the Reds would have performed so well offensively and been so meh at preventing runs? I know I wouldn't.
Anyway, the game starts in just a few hours. Enjoy your morning because it's only going to get better in the afternoon!
