Farmers Only: All of a sudden, Carolina has some interesting prospects

  • Louisville was off.  Up Next: Matt Klinker takes the hill, starting at 7:05.
  • Remember in the beginning of the season, when Klinker was seemingly the only decent prospect in Carolina?  Not anymore.  He's gone, but Devin Mesoraco and Dave Sappelt have been promoted to the Mudcats, and Jake Kahaulelio is proving to be a very interesting prospect.  Oh, the 'Cats won 3-1.  Sappelt was 3-4.  His line in 31 games since being promoted to AA is .351/.383/.505.  Baseball America rated him the best outfield defender in the system, so if he keeps hitting we could have a good prospect on our hands.  Kahaulelio continued his hot hitting as well, going 2-3 with a walk.  Four different pitchers combined to only allow the 1 run.  Up Next: Matt Fairel starts at 7:05.
  • Lynchburg lost 7-4.  Curtis Partch allowed 4 runs in 5 innings, and Sean Watson allowed another 3 in 2 innings.  Cody Puckett was 2-5 with a double and his 7th homer of the year.  Neftali Soto, Efrain Contreras, and Alex Buchholz each added doubles.  Up Next: Brad Boxberger starts at 7:05.
  • Dayton got beat up 9-3.  Josh Ravin gave up 6 runs in only two innings to take the loss.  Local boy Cameron Satterwhite went 3-3.  He's OPSing .841 since joining the team.  Chris Richburg also hit his 6th homer.  Up Next: Justin Walker goes at 7:00.
