It's amazing how quickly fans can go from giving up on their team to feeling like champions again. Maybe it's just the medium of the internet that leads to hyperbole and exasperation, but you'd see people giving up in the middle of a World Cup game and then dancing in the streets at the end. For Reds fans, it was a terrible weekend in Seattle that had many fans making other summer plans. Now the bandwagon is getting crowded again after a 5-game winning streak. It'd be nice if all of this winning meant the Reds were putting some space between them and the Cardinals before the Phillies come to town, but we'll take what we can get.
This will be Bronson Arroyo's 7th start during the day this season against 9 evening starts. While his ERA is nearly a full run better during the day (3.83 vs. 4.73), his control has been worse during the day (4.5 BB/9). The thing he has done well is that he has kept the ball in the park during the day. And when Arroyo does that, it usually ends up being a pretty good day for the Reds.
I get to head down to the game today to put my personal 6-game attendance winning streak to the test. My wife bought us scout seats for this game for Father's Day. I told her she shouldn't reward me for being a bad dad, it's only going to encourage me to get worse. I suppose if she's not going to learn a lesson, I shouldn't either, right?
Go Reds!
