- For all of the supposed firepower of the Louisville offense, they sure are having trouble scoring runs. At least the pitching has been good. Last night they won 2-0, on the strength of 7 shutout innings from Chad Reineke. Bill Bray also threw another shutuout inning. He has yet to allow a run in 7 2/3 innings. Chris Burke was 2-4 with a double, and everyone else kinda sucked. Up Next: Aroldis Chapman will take on Durham at 7:05.
- Carolina lost a shootout 17-8. Some rough pitching all around in this one. Dave Sappelt led the offense, going 3-5 with a triple, and Jake Kahaulelio went 2-4 with his 7th homer. Scott Carroll will start against Mississippi at 7:15.
- Lynchburg played a doubleheader, winning 2-0 in the first game. Edinson Volquez threw 5 shutout innings, allowing just 1 hit and striking out 4. Donnie Joseph earned the save by striking out the side. He now has 62 strikeouts in 34 1/3 innings. I mean, come on, that's ridiculous. Cody Puckett hit his 9th homer. They lost the second game 8-1. James Avery had a rough start, giving up 7 runs in 4 1/3 innings. Cody Puckett and Efrain Contreras were each 2-3 with a double. Up Next: Jordan Hotchkiss should start at 7:00.
- Dayton lost 6-5 behind 5 errors from the defense. Frank Pfister committed 3 of them at third base. Josh Garton was 2-4 with his 7th homer. Up Next: Tim Crabbe starts against Great Lakes at 7:00.
