Can you believe John Maine has been around since 2004? That blew me away. My impression of him is a player who is struggling to fulfill his promise, a la Homer Bailey. Dude's a good 5 years older than Homer though. I guess that shows just how much I know about the Mets.
He's had a rough go of it so far this year, reaching the 6th inning only once. Much like Oliver Perez last night, he's a pitcher the Reds should be able to crack. Whether they have the patience for that is something else entirely. Luckily he doesn't have the same history against the Reds that Olly does, as the Reds have scored 18 runs on him in his 3 previous career starts against.
Certified Mets-Killer Bronson Arroyo is coming off his second Goodroyo outing of the year, scoring his first 2010 W against the Astros. He has a 3.38 ERA in 9 career starts against the Metros, including last July 10th when he pitched a 4-hit shutout against them at Citi Field.
This game is positively ripe for the Reds' picking.
