I didn't realize this game was a day game until about 5 minutes ago, so please excuse my brief introduction.
Exciting pitching matchup today. You all are familiar with Mike Leake. He's the first Reds rookie pitcher to go 6 innings in the first 7 starts of his career since Jay Tibbs in 1984. His six quality starts are the most in a Reds pitcher's first seven games since Brett Tomko had 6 in 1997. A win today would tie him with Tomko and Wayne Simpson for the most wins by a Reds rookie in his first 8 starts of his career. I'd like to see that.
Tommy Hanson is a beast. He's 23-years old and already he most strikeouts than innings pitched and he's doing that while striking nearly five batters for every walk he surrenders. That's tough. I don't envy the Reds hitters today as they have their work cut out for them. I wouldn't want to be facing Hanson. He's nasty.
A win splits the two-game series. The Cardinals are playing at the Marlins at 1:40, so the games will be mostly overlapping. The Reds are on MLB Network, for those that have access to it today.
Go Reds! They're my favorite team!
