Farmers Only: Chapman bounces back, but a blister ends his night early

Sorry for the late post, folks.  Crazy times at Casa 'Credsfan.

  • Louisville won 4-2 behind a strong start from Aroldis Chapman.  Chappy threw 5 2/3 shutout innings, striking out 7 and allowing 3 hits and 3 walks.  Drew Sutton was 3-3, Wladimir Balentien continued his resurgence, going 2-2 with 2 walks and his 5th homer of the season.  Meanwhile, top prospect Todd Frazier continues to struggle.  He was 0-4 with 3 strikeouts.  His average dipped to .186 on the year.  Common Todd!  You can do it!  Up Next: Chad Reineke will start an early game against Lehigh Valley at 10:35 a.m.
  • Carolina lost 4-3.  Joe Krebs, Phillippe Valiquette and Jordan Smith combined for 4 shutout innings from the 'pen.  Sean Henry continued his hot hitting, going 1-4 with a triple, as did Jake Kahaulelio, going 1-3 with a walk.  Up Next: Someone will pitch tonight at 7:15.
  • Lynchburg got trounced 8-2.  Mark Serrano started, but left after 2 complaining of elbow tightnes. That's never good. Daryl Harang had a much worse night than his older brother, giving up 8 earned runs in just 3 1/3 innings.  A bunch of guys had hits, nobody had more than one, and there was only one extra base hit.  (My main man Devin Mesoraco did reach twice, going 1-3 with a walk).  Up Next: Matt Fairel takes the hill at 6:05.
  • Dayton also got beaten soundly, 9-3.  Josh Ravin got roughed up, allowing 7 runs (5 earned) in 5 2/3 innings.  Josh Garton went 2-4 with a home run, and Andrew Means went 3-4 with a double.  Up Next: Justin Walker takes on Lansing at 7:00.
