It's time for the highly anticipated series between first and second place in the NL Central. Oh sure the Reds are more games back than the last place Texas Rangers and the fourth place Florida Marlins combined, but that's nothing a nice three-game sweep won't fix.

Okay, I'm getting a little ahead of myself. The fact is that the Reds looked good against the Astros, but, no disrespect to them, they are not a very good team this year. The Cardinals could be the best team in the National League, especially now that Brad Penny has gotten his problems fixed by the Pitcher Witch. Seriously, if I'm a free agent pitcher with marginal success, I am paying the Cardinals to let me play for them for a year - anything to get Dave Duncan to work his voodoo on me. Not that Penny hasn't had success, but it's been three years since he wasn't crap. And now he's tearing through the league like an ace. Dave Duncan needs to be burned or hired.

You know who could really use some Dave Duncan magic? Johnny Cueto. Cueto seems like exactly the kind of pitcher that Duncan would turn into an ace. He's got good raw stuff but he just can't seem to put it together and have extended success. I hope for Cueto's sake he's gets the opportunity to work with Duncan some day. Maybe then we'll see what he can really do on the mound.

Can't sweep if you don't win the first one. Reds need to keep that momentum rolling from their last four wins. I'm leaving for Walt Disney World this afternoon (in fact, I'm on the plane right now!). I don't want my return from fantasy land next weekend to be a harsh one. Hopefully the Reds will oblige.
