Complete Coverage >

2009 - Bronson Arroyo 10-10 5.10 1.48 80 52

2009 - Barry Zito 7-10 4.47 1.37 101 51

Amazingly, if you had told me that there was going to be a high scoring game in this series, I would have guessed it would be today's game, not last night. A 10-run explosion by the Reds could mean that they won't score another run this series, but hopefully it's just a sign that the offense is going to pick things up for a bit.

Expect to see a lot of curveballs in today's pitching match up. Both of these guys live and die by their curveball and both have mediocre fastballs that sit in the high 80s. Actually, Arroyo's fastball have been terrible this year, perhaps the worst in the NL based on FanGraphs Pitch Value estimator. Zito's fastball is mediocre though.

Also, don't be surprised if these two bust out the old guitars and give us a little acoustic grunge performance right on the mound. Many think that's what both of them would rather be doing anyway.

For the first time in at least 2 weeks, the baby is out from under the basket. Enjoy the freedom while you have it, baby!
