I love it when Aaron Harang pitches. I know there are some who are starting to sour or at least lose interest in the big right-hander, but there is something about him that makes me happy whenever he pitches. I know he's not the same great pitcher that he was in 2006 and 2007, but he's still very good. And if he had Bronson Arroyo's luck over the last two seasons, I think he'd probably still be considered an elite pitcher. And I'm not just talking about the wins either. The defense behind Arroyo has been better over the last two seasons compared to Harang's outings as well. About 2% more of the balls in play have turned into outs for Arroyo compared to Harang. Over a couple of seasons, that can turn into a pretty big difference. I say it's about time this team actually starts helping out Harang for once.
It's hard to say what we'll see from Manny Parra tonight. He was absolutely dreadful on the mound for the Brewers before being sent down to the minors in the middle of June. He had a mixed bag of results while he was in AAA, but was called back up after 4 starts and he promptly came out and shutout the Cardinals for 7 innings last week. Given how the Reds seem to help pitchers find their groove, I can't say that I'm excited to see Parra even with his seasonal numbers.
All of the moderators will be at the game tonight, so be good. We've asked boobs to babysit you, so listen to him and do what he says. You can stay up and watch the game, but once it's over it's straight to bed. And if I hear any bad reports from boobs, we are not going out for ice cream tomorrow. Do you hear me?
