Farmers Only: Sarasota turns the tables

  • Louisville was rained out.  They'll start a new series with Lehigh Valley tonight at 6:15, behind Ben Jukich, who takes over for Matt Maloney in the rotation.
  • Carolina's streak is finally over, as they dropped to Jacksonville 5-2Alexander Smit was pulled with one out in the 3rd after giving up only two runs, so hopefully that's not a serious injury.  Juan Francisco hit his 11th HR of the season, but the offense really never got going, as the top 3 hitters in the lineup (Henry, Heisey, Alonso) went 0-12 on the evening.  Up next: Zach Stewart takes the hill at 7:05.
  • Sarasota provided some payback after an extra innings loss on Thursday night by beating Brevard County 5-4 in 10 innings.  This time, it was the S-Reds coming back in the 9th and scoring the winning run in the 10th, with Jose Gualdron singling in the tying run and Jason Bour winning it in the 10th.  Gualdron was 2-for-4 in his Sarasota debut, and Bour drove in two runs going 3-for-5.  The S-Reds spread the offense around, as Jake Kahaulelio, Denis Phipps, Jason Louwsma, and Justin Tordi all had two hits for Sarasota.  Joseph "The Cycle" Krebs pitched three scoreless innings in relief for the win.  Up next: No starter listed for tonight's game at 6, but it's Jeremy Horst's turn.
  • Dayton got the offense going, as they beat South Bend 8-4Stephen Chapman and Carlos Mendez had three hits each, and drove in 3 and 2 runs respectively.  Curtis Partch had a solid start to earn the win, giving up 2 runs on 5 hits in 6 innings of work.  Up next: Dayton starts a new series with Great Lakes at 7:05, with no starter listed.  It should be Oscar Castro.
