Today is the day you've had marked on your calendar since since August 11th of last season. Today is the day we get to see once and for all who got the better of the Adam Dunn for Micah Owings trade. Barring some lineup snafu, these two should face each other a couple of times today. The winner gets bragging rights FOREVER!

John Lannan has actually pitched fairly well this year, but has seen the Nationals go just 3-9 in his 12 starts. He walks quite a few batters and doesn't strike out many, but he's managed to post an ERA under 4 for the season, so he's doing something right, even if he's just being lucky. His luck doesn't carry over to his record though as he's been done in a couple of times by his bullpen and a couple of times by lack of run support. He's sort of like the Aaron Harang of the Nationals.

Owings hasn't exactly been consistent this season, but then what else would you expect from a 5th starter? He's currently riding a personal 4-game losing streak, but honestly he's only pitched poorly in 2 of those starts. The big problem for him, as it is with all of the Reds pitchers, is that he can't bend too far without breaking because the offense leaves him no real room for error. Hopefully today will be different and we'll see some action with the bats for once from the Reds.

The game is at 4:30 today, for some reason. It's not on local TV, but I'm guessing you can catch it on MLB.tv if you have the option. Otherwise, just tune in to Marty and Jeff and hope for the best. Oh, and there is rain in the DC area again today.
