After one of the most fun games of the season last night, our beloved Reds start a new series at home against the first place Cardinals.

Johnny Cueto starts for the Redlegs, and he's the got the hottest arm in the rotation right now. In his last three starts, he's pitched 22 innings of 1 run ball. In those starts, he's struck out 17 and walked 2. Dude is gettin' it done.

He'll face Joel Piniero, who's had a strong start to the season as well. The bad news is, he's been good against the Reds in his career, with a 3-0 mark and a 2.22 ERA against Cincinnati.

If you'd like to know more about the Cards, our very own crolfer wrote an excellent team preview back in March. This is arguably the biggest series of the season so far for the Reds, as they're playing the first place team in the division at home, and embark on a West Coast trip next week, so they need to get wins while they still can.

The lineups have been announced, and if you watched the game last night, you know the drill already.

Taveras CF
Hairston 2B
Bruce RF
Hernandez 1B
Nix LF
Rosales 3B
Hanigan C
Janish SS
Cueto P

With Gonzalez still hurting, and Votto and Phillips still out with the flu, we're subjected to another night with two bench players, and the continually depleted bullpen. Is Walt Jocketty not aware you can make roster moves during the season? Nothing says "giving your team the best chance to win" like refusing to DL players when there are 3 infielders out and giving your manager a depleted pitching staff worn out from extra innings and bullpen games, eh Walt?

The game's on FSN and WLW, and GameDay can be found here. Go Reds!
