- Matt Maloney had a spectacular start as Louisville shut out the Yankees Jr., 3-0. Maloney went 7 strong, giving up no runs and 4 hits, while striking out 10 (!) and walking one. Should he start getting consideration for a midseason callup over Bailey? He's 3-1 with a 2.89 ERA right now, and is 6th in the IL in strikeouts. Danny Dorn led the way for the Bats with two solo shots (his 3rd and 4th on the season), and Danny Richar added a solo HR of his own. IL Player of the Week Drew Stubbs had a double to extend his hitting streak to 9 games. Another note: Chris Valaika's hurt for Louisville, and expected to be out for about two months with what's rumored to be a broken hand. Bummer. Up next: Sam LeCure takes on Durham (and David Price) at 7:05.
- Carolina lost to Birmingham 9-2 as Misael DeJesus got knocked around again. Heisey's Lawn Service was 1-for-4 to keep his on-base streak alive and Todd Frazier doubled in a run for the Mudcats, but that was really the only highlights of a dismal loss. Up next: Featured Farmhand Travis Wood takes on Birmingham at 8:05.
- Sarasota tried to mount a rally in the late innings, but ultimately lost to Fort Myers 6-5. Neftali Soto was 3-for-3 with his 4th HR of the season, and Joseph Krebs, Justin Freeman, and Logan Ondrusek pitched 4 scoreless innings out of the bullpen to keep the S-Reds in it. Up next: Travis Webb takes on Fort Myers at 7:05.
- Dayton was off yesterday, but Juan Carlos Sulbaran takes on West Michigan at 7 tonight.
