This will be Nolasco's 2nd career start against the Reds. The last time he started against them , the lineup contained Chris Denorfia, Todd Hollandsworth, Javier Valentin, and Juan Castro - all players no longer with the team. Oh wait, Valentin's still there he just doesn't play. What's really weird with that lineup is that Brandon Phillips batted 8th behind Hollandsworth, Valentin, and Castro. I'm sure we were somewhat outraged, though it's not evident in the thread. At least the Reds won, keeping their playoff hopes alive for one more day.
Arroyo is going on short rest tonight after throwing 115 pitches in his last start. He's started a game on 3 days rest just 6 times in his career and only 3 of those are since 2001. He did it twice for the Reds in 2006, once coming off of 110 pitches and another coming off of 111 pitches. The results were mixed, and that was badass Bronson of 2006. Given that we've got roller coaster Bronson this season, I'm not so sure starting him tonight is the right move. Honestly, I'd have given the ball to Josh Fogg, who hasn't pitched in 10 days. Leave Bronson on regular rest and skip Belisle this time through.
It won't matter though, because we've all be praying for good Bronson tonight, right? Right?
