McCracken up, Abad DFA'd

From Marc:

The Reds have purchased the contract of Quinton McCracken and designated Andy Abad for assignment.

According to Jerry, McCracken should be arriving at the ballpark at any time.

I liked Abad, but he doesn't have a place on this team. And at 33 I doubt if he really has a place anywhere. At least he got to draw a major league minimum salary for a couple of weeks.

McCracken really isn't a bad player to have if he's used as he should be, as a true 25th man. That means he shouldn't ever play, except as a pinch runner, or a late inning defensive replacement. Maybe start once a month when a couple of players are hurting or need the day off. Anything more than that is ridiculous, because he's a terrible hitter.
