Game Thoughts: Reds beat the Cardinals 1-0

I'm probably becoming a bit too excited about this team. In my head I know that they're probably going to let me down, because they're the Reds, and that's what they've done for the past decade. But this feels different. Am I crazy?

It doesn't seem like this starting rotation is using smoke and mirrors to get by. This isn't Jimmy Haynes winning 15 games kind of stuff. Aaron Harang was filthy tonight.

Really, if we weren't such pessimistic Reds fans, would it be so out of the question for:

  • Aaron Harang to improve on his 2005? I think we're conditioned to only hope for a repeat because we're so unused to pitchers getting better in a Reds uniform.
  • Brandon Claussen to also improve?
  • Eric Milton to have a year more in line with his career average?
  • Bronson Arroyo to have a career year coming back to the NL?
Yeah, that's asking a lot. But there are seasons where the stars align, and who knows, maybe this'll be one of those years for the Reds. Crazier things have happened.

But maybe I'm just entirely too excited about a 1-0 win over the St. Louis Cardinals. We'll see.
