Hey. I'm a be on TV

Trebek2_medium

Ok, so this may be the least exciting announcement in all of redreporter history. But, I was picked to be in the college jeopardy tournament. (yes. real jeopardy.) I filmed last month...and it's going to air next week.

So, if you want to watch me nerd out and look lame in a college sweatshirt, the episode I'm on will air Friday, May 9th. Yes, it's a tournament, so i miiight be on again, but I am definitely not allowed to disclose that information. Check your local listings, because evidently jeopardy is on a different network, like everywhere.  Also, I know it most likely conflicts with us playing the Mets, but there are always commercial breaks. and TIVO.

It will not be hard to distinguish my true identity from the two gentlemen I played against.

Erardi Article

I haven't seen this posted - forgive me if I'm being redundant, but I thought this article was interesting, especially the comments from Jeff and Marty.

Except I don't really understand what they're saying about fans not really warming to Adam Dunn being a red. I mean, clearly there are vocal anti-Dunn factions, and many have their complaints, but most fans I've met really like him.

Dragons at Lugnuts - August 29th.

So on my way home from class, I got drenched in a pretty significant downpour, and the game outlook looked pretty bleak. However, we kept calling the park, and they said the game was on - not a single drop fell after 7:00.

So some interesting things - Drew Stubbs wasn't particularly impressive - but not a whole lot of balls made it into the outfield for him to show off his fielding. And he had a couple of hard hit balls that nonetheless were not all that close to being out. It was Todd Frazier's first game as a Dragon - didn't have his name on his jersey yet. He laced a double all the way to the wall on his first at bat - probably the most impressive hit the Dragons had all night - though there weren't many of them. Frazier also muffed a couple of ground balls, and failed to turn a double play that maybe could have been turned. But it was his first game. No sweat. And one of the ground balls looked like it should have been the thirdbaseman's.

After the game, I waited outside the ballpark, and proceeded to totally embarass myself in front of like half the dragon's roster by giggling and acting like a 13 year old girl. I kind of look like a 13 year old, so it's all ok. Also: one of the pitchers hit on my friend lauren, and I DID get Todd Frazier to sign my ticket. Hooray! He also saw the little happy dance I did directly after, which was kind of embarrassing.

Hey. I was nervous.

hey! question!

sooo, me and between two and four of my friends are talking about going to see the game wednesday night. The option of us buying tickets in advance is low, because we're not really sure at all who's coming.

My gut instinct is that there's no way in hell that the game sells out.

But on the other hand, maybe there's something I don't know about the Braves and GAPB or some super special promotion.

So my question is: what is the chance of us showing up at game time and not being able to get seats?

S.I.S. - most embarrasing moment.

What? No baseball? Laaaame. FVA nominated me to start an SIS and I seconded myself which may be self-serving and corrupt, but that's the way I like it.

My initial temptation was to do "Favorite tree" but then I remembered I'm like the only person in the world who cares about dendrology.

So. What's the most embarassing thing you've done/has happened to you?

It now occurs to me that this may have been done already. But I searched and didn't come up with anything, so ...yeah!

  • Kept rolling, obliviously, on the timpani after the final note of the Pas de Deux in The nutcracker during a performance. (thankfully only at a concert - and not in the pit orchestra of the actual ballet)
  • Fell out off the tailgate of a moving pickup
  • Fake-kicked in a long, narrow skirt, but hard enough to lift the second leg off the ground, and make me land really hard on my ass.

homer bailey's first win - terrible photoes within

I've been following Homer Bailey for a pretty long time, and I have to say, the worst part about him getting the call was that I never did manage to get to a Louisville game to watch him pitch there.  Obviously, his performance was not outstanding, but I was pretty impressed with how he didn't lose it, and managed to get out of some jams. Not too shabby for a kid who's 7 months older than me.

Yesterday I was in Section 411, Row A. (way way way out in left field) And somehow managed to get surrounded by Indians fans. Also, I managed to sort of anti-jinx the reds, by loudly insulting them. I left to go to the bathroom in the bottom of the 1st- phillips hits a home run. I make fun of Jeff Conine (not that Grandpa Jeff hasn't been pretty good. He's  just ... part of the oldest platoon ever), he homers. I cry when Mike Stanton warms up - pitches 2 scoreless innings.

Anyway. These pictures are pretty bad. 2nd tier, left field. Taken with my camera's 4xzoom, and through my 7x35 binoculars, which actually worked a little better than I thought it would. A little monopod action might actually make this technique useful.

The actual half-in-focus pictures I managed to take were of EE's butt, Dunn, and Hafner.
