Scouts takes on Alonso, Volquez, Cozart, etc

I came across this blog post from a guy who quotes (but doesn't cite) anonymous sources, mostly scouts, that he talks to in a bar near Spring Training sites in AZ. He is a Padres fan and was able to get some insight from different teams about Alonso and Volquez, among many others in the NL West. Towards the bottom of the post he included quotes about players from non NL-West teams. Someone seems to be very impressed by Zack Cozart.

Winter Meetings: Want/Have

Jim Callis of Baseball America discusses picks, including Alonso

Jim Callis thinks Alonso will definitely sign by Friday. If he doesn't Callis says, he will lose all his leverage next year after his senior season. Another interesting nugget: If the Reds don't sign Alonso, they will get the No. 8 pick next year, but if they don't sign that pick, then they lose it. So we would then lose our leverage. Both sides need to sign by Friday's deadline. (Callis comes on around the 19-minute mark and discusses Alonso around 29-30 minutes.)

They've had winning streaks of 8, 8, 6, 5, and 7.  They lost one series all year...to #2 North Carolina.  They're 30-5 at home (29-3 against teams not named North Carolina).  They swept through the...
