phillipinos hate bronson
they want him to resign.  but he already signed a contract extension last year, so i think their cries that he is evil are unjustified.

they should hate manos de plomo instead.

FYI: The wife tells me Wilco is on SNL tonight.
And (unrelated) has anybody read Y: The Last Man?  I've never read any graphic novels other than Maus but I thought this series looked pretty interesting. Thoughts?

'08 Reds question: Is there really going to be a need for Coutlangus?

by Fat Vegas Alan on Mar 1, 2008 6:55 PM EST reply reply actions actions   0 recs

Honestly
Is there every really a need for Coutlangus?  Why pussyfoot around?  Just get to the HEAT!

Y: The Last Man
That's one of my favorite series.  It's an interesting look at what happens if every male animal (accept one man and his monkey) die.  Kind of like the movie "Children of Men."

I would also recommend the series "Preacher."  "Watchmen" is the best comics mini-series ever.  "Sandman" is pretty excellent.  "Fables" is a pretty interesting series, about fairy tale characters that have to live in the real world.

If you want to talk comics, I'm your huckleberry.

And if you want to talk Huckleberry
Brendan's mom is a hound.

Well that's what I heard.

by ctnyc on Mar 1, 2008 7:35 PM EST to parent up reply reply actions actions   0 recs

Okay. Good to know.
I hope I didn't get you too excited because when it comes to comics, my questions probably begin and end with "Can you recommend some good graphic novels for a non-comic reader?"  And well, you've already taken care of that one.

Here's another: There's probably no chance in hell but is there a series about baseball or any sport?

(Someone could prolly sell a few spoofy copies of CashMan vs The Theo.)

by Fat Vegas Alan on Mar 1, 2008 8:39 PM EST to parent up reply reply actions actions   0 recs

Can't really think of any

Funny story
Trey Hillman read Dokaben to learn about Japanese baseball when he went to Japan.

He didn't realize it was fictional.

Just got back from college (my son's)
Nice to see the win, but don't like the pitching lines on several guys.  I've been following the minors for awhile, and I've always been excited about Rosales and Roenicke (and a few others).  Doubt they'll make the team, but more good prospects ready to contribute when called upon.  I'd much rather have Rosales than Castro (or Janish, for that matter).
Coffee's had 2 good outings - nice sign.  And I think Dickerson will be our leadoff hitter next year, but will probably be replaced by Stubbs in 2 years.

by gejoe on Mar 1, 2008 8:35 PM EST reply reply actions actions   0 recs

Rosales
Any of the prospect mavens have thoughts on this guy?   He wasn't on BPro's or BA's Reds list, and my impression is that the system is fairly top-heavy.  It looks like he hit well at Sarasota and Chattanooga last year but stopped playing SS.  Baker and the Fay seem excited about him, so he's got that going for him.

by ken on Mar 2, 2008 11:21 AM EST to parent up reply reply actions actions   0 recs

I think
he was coming off of arm surgery last season and that had a lot to do with him playing 1B almost exclusively.
