Majewski's Injury
From CBS Sportsline:
Majewski pitched in the World Baseball Classic in March, replacing Mets closer Billy Wagner on the U.S. roster. He said Monday that he has taken anti-inflammatory drugs since early in the season and received a cortisone shot before the All-Star break.
"It's been bothering me for a while, after the World Baseball Classic," Majewski said Monday. "I tried to fire it up too quick."
General manager Wayne Krivsky said that Majewski didn't tell the team that his shoulder was bothering him all along.
"That's the first I've heard about it," Krivsky said.
Asked if the Nationals told him about the cortisone shot and the anti-inflammatory drugs Majewski was taking before the trade, Krivsky said, "I'm not going to comment on any of that stuff."
The Reds were waiting for the results of a medical test to determine the extent of Majewski's shoulder problems, which prompted them to make their fourth bullpen-centered trade in the last four weeks.

Bet it's a torn labrum...
Can McJeffsky play short? He might hit better than McClayton.

I'm still wondering the same thing
If he was getting regular cortisone shots before The Trade, and that wasn't disclosed, surely good ol' Bowden broke some sort of rule. A friend of mine suggested that if we did get an injured player, MLB wouldn't do anything until the offseason - I disagreed. There's no way that we should suffer for two months because Bowden is up to his old tricks.
Watch absolutely nothing come of this. Maj will still be here and crappy two weeks from now.
Bah.

THE TRADE
- I don't remember a trade where Bowden ever sold a team a bad set of goods. Considering the number of trades that Bowden made during his tenure as a Reds I would have thought most teams would have backed off. I do remember Bowden saying idiotic things. I also remember at the beginning of the season he made an idiotic mistake and took Brian Lawerence on without a medical and San Diego knew or should have known that his arm was busted. Again I don't remember any trades that included a guy whose arm was ready to or did fall off that wasn't obvious.
- If Majewski was taking drugs or had a cortisone shot before the trade then its highly likely that it would have been in the medical file. Considering how much Krivksy, as he admitted, was overpaying its not clear why he didn't check under the hood. You don't pay $40k for a Toyota Corolla without checking under the hood or driving it around the block. Medicals are seemingly simple procedures that generally find these sorts of things.

Brantley to the Cards?
I really don't see how that's deceptive at all. If I trade for a guy who pitched only 12 innings the year before I know what I'm getting. There's nothing hidden there.

Here's the Enquirer on this.

I think his relative silence on this is merely a prelude to further remedies. If I were advising him, I would advise him to be very limited and circumspect in his statements until more facts are known.
