Red Reporter's range

Good win yesterday. Good job, everyone. Hopefully we can continue this winning streak with the Mets tomorrow.

Just wanted to post a little poll on this fine, hot and humid off-day to get an idea of where everyone is following the action from.

It's by region, so hopefully that's anonymous enough for the closet fans out there and to keep peoples' bosses from discovering the

Ohio's in the Midwest?
If Ohio is the midwest, I'm not sure where I am (Colorado).  I don't really fit into any of the above ranges, perhaps you could add Rocky Mountains as a choice?

Seriously though, do people in Ohio consider that the Midwest?  That seems crazy.

Midwest
Generally people consider Ohio to be Midwestern (although parts, especially Red's country, of it slip into the South). According to wikipedia Colorado is in the Western United States.. Maybe I should the West to the list.

the midwest
So the midwest is considered the states that are in about the western 1/3 of the eastern half of the country and the West includes states that are east of the midpoint of the country?

Who drew up these rules?  The dolts at ESPN in Connecticut who think NY and Boston are the center of the country?

Just ranting.  Sorry about the heat fellas.  It was 103 degrees here yesterday, but at an altitude of 6200 feet the humidity was 15%.  It felt nice and warm, a pleasant day to be outside.

It depends..
on wether you have African or European swallows.

Poor satyanaas, mm,mm,mm....A light hearted off-day diary and......nuthin' but grief! And while we're on the subject, I don't see my city listed. :))

Arizona the west coast?
I've got some oceanfront property in Arizona...from my front porch you can see the sea...  -jinaz

sounds nice
I always though of arizona as the Southwest. Whatever it is, it sounds way better than being Brooklyn right now. 97 degree with 90% humidity. :/

By the way...
if you're buying that oceanfront property bit, I'll throw the Golden Gate Bridge in for free. :)

Okay
so, apparently the humidity is getting to me. : ( I guess my geographical skills are questionable today...as this thread is illustrating. : (

P.S. Phoenix weather
Expected high of 106 today, should hit 110 by this weekend.  And it's monsoon season, so it's nice a humid here too. :) -j

New York Place to Watch Reds?
Hey, Brooklyn,

You know anyplace (i.e., sports bar) in the City where Reds games are regularly shown?  The MLB.com streaming video just hasn't been doing it for me lately.....

by joan on Jul 18, 2006 12:02 AM EDT up reply actions

Unfortunately
I don't. I haven't really sought it out though for some reason. The only place I'm sure they have it would be ESPNZone at Times Square, just because they seem to have everything. But, like most of Times Square, it is a complete and total zoo. I went to watch a Bengals game once. Its worth the experience at least once but I don't think I could go again. I almost O.D.ed from sensory overload.

I imagine we should be able to find at least the next few games vs the Mets televised somewhere. If I find out anything, I will post it here.

Reds in NYC
Thanks.  If Reds stay hot, I might get desparate enough to do the Cable T.V. package deal -- but, no, not ESPN Zone at Times Square.  That would be awful.  I know there is some Cincy guy who owns a restaurant in the Village.  He used to do "Cincinnati nights"  (Skyline chile, Graeters, etc.). Maybe he's got something going on.  I'll check around also....  I can't be the only 'Natian in NYC looking to watch the Reds this season.

No outside the U.S.?
I am a die-hard Red fan here in México. You should also include an international option.

Damnit
Sorry, redadicionado, I definitely should have had an international option. My bad. It won't update my edits to the poll, though...maybe someone with "Admin" priviledges can add:

The West
Mexico
Canada
Central America
South America
Europe
Africa
Asia
The Artic
The International Space Station

to the poll. : )

Nortern Kentucky
I live in Florence, KY about ten or so miles south of Cincinnati.  You should put a "Cincinnati Surrounding Area" option on there.

KENTUCKY...
is sort of its own little world. They should get there own designation.

Agree with Caleb!!
please don't lump Cincy in with KY!

As a former Northern Kentuckian
Get your own damn airport then and you can only go to Mt. Adams bars because the only good Cincinnati bars are on the Kentucky side. Have fun with Lunken.  Northern Kentuckians are Greater Cincinnatians, too.

HEY WAIT
I was speaking on behalf of the many Eastern Kentuckians who don't want to be associated with the flat landers to the west! :)

Only song to rep the Nati in recent years
Download Hi-Tek ft. Snoop Dogg - How they do it in the Nati.  It's bad rap, but its the only song I know of the represents the Cincinnati area.  That Who Dey song by Bootsy kinda sucks just as bad, but I got em both on my ipod.  If there's any other Nati songs out there, post em up.

Big Ohio Status
Well, there was the Hi-Tek song featuring Mood which was about Cincinnati. And, of course, there's the whole The Reflection Eternal LP - Train of Thought that has many shout outs to Cincinnati:

We stand over the Atlantic, looking broad like a man's shoulders
The fire is trapped in a belly, ready to pop like canned soda
We outlasting, from middle passage
Touched down in New York
Cincinnatay! Big Ohio status what you thought
Money it's classic these bastards try to treat us like cattle
So life has been a constant battle, battle

and Big Del From the Natti, from the same album:

Let 'em know how we do it down in the C.O.
we 'bout to get the thang started
Know what I'm sayin'? The year 2000

I'm 'bout to let these muthaf**kas know, Big D representin'
All the way from the C.O.
Cinncinnati, Ohio - that's what it is

Kentucky
I have to agree that Kentucky deserves its own designation.  Since there are no major pro sports teams in Kentucky, the Reds are the most popular pro sports team in the state.  At least that's what ESPN the Mag said a couple years ago.
