Game Thoughts: Reds beat the Buccos 6-5

Claussen looked good, but was a little wild. No walks, but he hit three guys and threw 87 pitches in just five innings. If he didn't need to be pinch hit for in the fifth then he could have probably came back out for the sixth, but that would have been it. He needs to throw more strikes, but still a good outing tonight.
The bunting has to stop. For the love of God.
I shouldn't say this for fear of jinxing him, but Dave Weathers has looked awfully good in his two outings. If he could manage 15-20 saves by the break then a trade could be pretty lucrative.
Attendance: 13887 Yeah, the weather was ugly, but ouch that's bad.
Thank God the umps made the right call on Adam Dunn's single in the eighth. I'm still a little stunned that they got it wrong to be begin with.
How about EdE being all clutch after being made to sit? Narron needs to play the kid every day. This musical chairs with first, second, and third is going to end up biting the team in the ass, and I don't think its going to take long.
I kind of dislike Sean Casey now that he's in a Pirates uniform. I think that makes me a terrible person somehow. Need to think about it more.

The Red Sox are supposedly looking for a backup to Varitek, according to the Globe. Koyie Hill was DFA'd by the Diamondbacks, and the Globe said the Sox were looking at him and Dane Sardinha. MLB4U says that the Reds might be looking to trade one of its catchers once LaRue is ready, and I presume they are not referring to Sardinha. Of course, we knew all this, but I thought it's nice to know the rumor isn't dead yet.

Nothing new, but Casey's plate routine always irritated me. That, and he's the Katie Couric of baseball. Sometimes I just want to see someone get pissed off.

reminded me of the expos. was american idol on last night or something? people couldn't be bothered to go out to the ballpark because of a television show?

attendance...

actually attendance is looking pretty rough all around baseball from what I could see based on highlights etc....

and watching mets v. nationals it was definitely sparse there....

Pirates color guy (ex pitcher but I forget his name) had some humorous comments about a line he hates in baseball, "I made one bad pitch". He says every time he hears that line he thinks how stupid it is....

He went on to say about how you make lots of bad pitches in any one game. However, it is just the ones where the batter makes you pay that kill you.... (see Claussen hanger to Randa).....

Enough with the Homeruns and Strikeouts
