Who's testing positive for steroids now....
Most of you have probably heard about 2 more positive steroid tests one in the AL and one in the NL. MLB will not reveal names until after the appeal process but....
Rumor has it....Roger Clemens
This has apparently been confirmed by multiple sources inside MLB who say he is in the process of appealing. Take it with a grain of salt but it wouldn't surprise me in the least if this comes out in the next few days. I believe this is the announcement of the player that will supposedly 'bring baseball to its knees'

the rocket
No
rumor has it?
Let's see some sources (links)
rumor has it?
Compare his stats with his previous 10 years. He's been stellar nearly every season in his 10+ year in the MLB yet you'll notice a slight steady decline over the last 5. Why point a finger now?
I'll tell you why. Baseball fans are growing more and more interested in the politics surrounding the sport than the sport itself. This 'roids scare is a perfect example. Canseco puts out a book, nearly immediately recognized as the same calliber as a 'US Weekly' smut magazine. Then, a couple of his predictions surface, and soon after, people start taking the book as serious as a King James Version of the Bible.
What about last year, or the year before? To me, his numbers look normal. Orel Hershiser hovered around 2.50 for most of his career, and slowly declined to a 4.00. Why is Rocket any different? To me this is a old guy reliving his glory days and blowing some heaters past some young kids.
Curt Schilling, Randy Johnson, Roger Clemens, Nolan Ryan, Tom Henke, Orel Hershiser... Why not criticize any one of these players?

Proof
Personally, I wouldn't believe Clemens took steroids until there was proof, but rumors are still interesting speculation.
clemens, sosa, manny ramirez, david ortiz, giambi

NO CHANCE
Sosa: Have you seen him, he is a rail, he's definitly off whatever he was on before.
Giambi: He had a Tumor last year, and would quite literally be risking his life. No reason that he would risk it again when his money is already guarenteed.
Ortiz: He's flabby and there is little chance I'd say he's on.
ManRam and Clemens are the only two I see could possibly(I don't think either are actually on it)be on the juice. It's not worth it to I wouldn't think. Plus, do you really think ManRam is smart enough to juice without screwing it up, I thought not.
"Best Season Ever"
The pitcher having the "best year" right now is Chris Carpenter. ERA, Wins, K's, K:BB, WHIP, BA, GAME SCORES, CG, SHO, hes got it all. And that is your Cy Young
I disagree
RC 170.1 29 1.53 113 46 155 0.93
CC 180.1 45 2.25 137 39 169 0.98
K/BB K/9 Oops Oavg CG SHO W
RC 3.37 8.19 .522 .195 0 0 11
CC 4.33 8.43 .575 .212 6 4 17
VORP PK_RA HR/9 BABIP WS PR
RC 74.9 1.59 0.33 2.39 23 55
CC 65.3 2.52 0.60 2.69 16 45
They look very close if you ask me. I'd have to give it to Clemens, and I hate Clemens.
Maybe Carpenter will pull ahead in the last month, or maybe something will come of these rumors. Right now the best argument for Carpenter is his complete games and Game Scores reflects this (anyone know where I can find average GS?), but my heart follows the metrics that show Clemens with a decent edge.
best season
that dude is on roids or some other juice OBVIOUS
lol, clemens just lost three straight decisions since his 'rumored' positive test. Didn't even last three innings yesterday. Hmm...lmao, wonder why. Suddenly the rocket's out of fuel? I've been suspecting this loser since last year.
To everyone defends Roger Clemens based on Nolan Ryan's stats:
Nolan Ryan pitched well after he hit 40, but if you look at his stats, they were pretty much in steady decline as he got older. His best ERA and opponents batting average did not come after he turned 40. Roger is enjoying his BEST opponents BA and ERA of his career at age 43 (as of the time of this writing 9-10-05. He still has to finish the season without his roids, which will cause his stats to suffer, no doubt.)!!
Couple this with the fact that his second best ERA came in 1990 when he was 28 years old. Back then, the average league ERA was a lot lower than it is now, so that makes this season's ERA even more phenomenal. Sorry guys, at age 43, this kind of stuff just doesn't happen.
You don't outperform your former 28 year old self at the age of 43, unless you were a complete underachiever in the past. Either that or, well, you're doing something you shouldn't be doing.
