Miley on Graves

Dave Miley will be addressing the Danny Graves situation (apparently he flipped off a fan yesterday - yay Danny!) at 3:30 on 700 WLW.

I'll have updates as we learn what's going on.

[Update: Danny Graves has been released. More later.]

re: graves
If he has been released, there's no sense in dumping on the guy any further. He was decent for most of the time he was in town, was typically a nice guy, but ran out of gas this year, I guess.

Graves
Sorry JD, your t-shirt sales are going to go down the tube.  It's all about timing.

Perhaps you could sue the Reds for the money they cost you by making this move now.

Duh...
"I had planned on publicly apologizing to the rest of the fans for my actions the last three weeks, but I guess I don't get that chance," Graves said. "Obviously I wish it didn't happen. If none of this stuff happened with me and the fans, would I be here still? I have no idea. I have no idea..."
No, not the real Paul Householder...just a fan who remembers the wretched 1982 Reds.

Graves released
Graves was a good player for a good chunk of his Reds career. Sadly, he's gone well down that road where he can no longer return in Cincinnati, due to his conduct on the field, leaving it and off it.

Best of luck in the rest of your Career Danny.

No Danny, I guess you don't get a chance
You've had plenty of chances....why wait three weeks.  You have the gall to call out Jimenez??? You are no different, good luck when the 6 million runs out after this year.

Ok, No Graves
Who are the closer candidates now?

by David Bloom on May 23, 2005 4:46 PM EDT reply actions

His stuff
He wasn't released for not apologizing. He was released because he couldn't hit 90 or keep his pitches down. He was released because he's done as a pitcher.

AP article
"He went 4-15 and wore down, losing velocity off his 94 mph fastball. He hasn't gotten it back -- he's been throwing 88 mph."
------

The longer Graves is an ex-Red, the faster his fastball used to be.

Casey
I'd give a hundred dollars to see em trade Casey for some pitching. I couldn't care less that he's a good clubhouse presence. So was Wally Joyner, and what did he ever win?

Good clubhouse = happy losers

Graves
This organization has been a complete disgrace. I can't say I'm not glad to see Danny Boy go, but why the hell didn't they disable him for at least fifteen days (because he's obviously hurt) then just stick him in a mop-up role for a while and see if he could get straightened out?  What do we have to lose?? We're paying him anyway, and we have absolutely nothing to play for this year.  I just don't understand where this team is going.  They are becoming exactly what the Bengals were in the 90s...an organization with absolutely no direction and complete mis-management from top to bottom.
